Pair admit planning raid

By ADVERTISER REPORTER

The two men who accompanied Newark teenager Fred Barras on the night he was shot dead at a Norfolk farmhouse have admitted conspiracy to burgle.

Brendan Fearon (29) of Mercia Road, Newark, and Darren Bark (33) formerly of Montgomery Road, Newark, but now of no fixed address, appeared together in the dock of Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday.

They pleaded guilty to conspiring to burgle Bleak House, Emneth Hungate, on the night of August 20.

The night ended in tragedy for Barras (16) who died of shotgun wounds at the farm.

Fearon suffered shotgun injuries to his legs and groin on the same night.

He was released on conditional bail until January, awaiting a medical report and a pre-sentence report.

Bark was remanded in custody, to await a pre-sentence report.

Bark asked for seven other offences to be considered, including three burglaries, two of obtaining property by deception and one of making off without payment.

The case has been adjourned until the third week of January.

Norfolk farmer Mr Tony Martin (54) of Bleak House Farm, appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court yesterday, accused of murdering Fred Barras, and was committed for crown court trial.

Mr Martin is also charged with wounding Fearon.
