Man fails to report to police

By DANIEL CHURCHER

The third member of a gang alleged to have attempted to burgle Bleak House Farm in Emneth, Norfolk, has left his Newark home.

The man, who has not been named by police, failed to surrender to bail at King's Lynn police station on Saturday.

It is thought that threats against his life have been made by people in Newark.

Mr Brendan Fearon (29) attended Downham Market police station in Norfolk on Sunday, when he was charged with conspiracy to burgle.

Mr Fearon of Mercia Road, Newark, suffered shotgun wounds to the legs and groin on August 20 in an incident at Bleak House Farm. He has been bailed to appear at King's Lynn Magistrates' Court next month.

Fred Barras (16) of Devon Road, Newark, died after suffering shotgun wounds in the incident.

A spokesman for Norfolk police said: "A man due to respond to bail on Saturday at King's Lynn police station failed to do so. He was responding to an allegation of burglary at Bleak House Farm, Emneth, which occurred on August 20.

"Police are actively seeking to locate the man to interview him further about this incident."

Farmer and antiques collector Mr Tony Martin (54) of Bleak House Farm, who is charged with murdering Barras and wounding Mr Fearon, was bailed for a second time on Friday.

He was first given bail in August but was returned to prison by police, who feared his secret safe house address had become known. He is due back in court in November.
