Actors wanted for early Bennett farce
Friday 7th December, 2012 - Kelham Fox meeting room
By Dawn Bond
Actors are being sought to take part in a play that highlights the sexual excesses of the middle classes in the 1960s. Alan Bennett’s Habeas Corpus, one of his earliest, will be presented by the Robin Hood Theatre Company at The Newark Academy’s Lilley and Stone site on London Road from April 17 to 20.
An audition will be held in the meeting room at The Kelham Fox a week tomorrow at 7.30pm.
Director Karen Peck said: “This classic Alan Bennett farce is a wonderful chance for all involved to indulge in an excess of ridiculous situations, wonderful asides, sharp and witty observations and plain awful, groan-inducing one-liners. “Misunderstandings abound and there are plenty of chances for all the cast to develop their own characteristics that can give a unique and personal dimension to each of the characters portrayed. “Please come along and help to bring to life the motley assortment of stereotypical characters who are part of the Wicksteed family and their various acquaintances and hangers-on.” She said characters ranged in age and size. The cast comprises six men and five women. For more information call Karen on 07949 635014.
