Cher, 18, said: “The tour is going really well and I am gaining more confidence at every gig. I wear a different outfit at every one so it depends what mood I am in and what the weather is like.

“I will perform songs that did not make it on to the album, tracks from the album and a few cover songs that people can sing along to. I have got two really good female dancers on stage with me as well as the band.

“I always wanted to be a singer and didn't want to be anything else really. I was going to do this no matter what, even if I had not appeared on the X-Factor.”

She said while growing up she listened to a lot of country music but then decided to change to pop music. She was trained vocally and went to a stage school.

“I love acting and I hope to do some more of that in the future,” she said. “ I maybe only 18 but there is a lot that has happened to me and that is where I get the inspiration for my songs.

“My favourite so far is Grow Up because I don’t think I have grown up yet. I feel nowadays that kids want to grow up too quickly. My advice to them is to slow down and be a kid for a while as there is plenty of time to be grown up.

“They should also be happy in the way they look and not be thinking about their hair, clothes and make-up all the time.”

When the tour ends Cher returns to America to shoot a new music video and has already begun working on a new album.
