Company creating crazy court cases
Wednesday 1st February, 2012 - Nottingham Playhouse
Following sold-out performances at the Nottingham European Arts And Theatre Festival last year, Court In The Act! is back for a four-night run. The popular improvisation show will be staged at Nottingham Playhouse from Wednesday, February 1, to Saturday, February 4, at 8pm.

It stars comedy writer and actress Suki Webster, and Pippa Evans from BBC2’s Fast And Loose.

They will be joined by four other intrepid improvisers to create a complete and completely mad court case based on suggestions provided by the audience.

Witnesses are called and cross-examined by the Counsels and The Jury, made up of 12 members of the audience, who give their verdict on the evidence put before them.

Whether the crime is goldfish fraud, laying a carpet upside down or the theft of the Isle of Wight, the British Comedy Company will conjure up a case that is guaranteed to have the audience in stitches.

The company is performing a special children’s version of the show on the Saturday at 2.30pm, suitable for youngsters aged seven and over.

The Retina Dance Company returns to the Playhouse on Thursday, January 26, at 2pm and 8pm to perform Layers Of Skin.

This fast-moving, intricate and multi-layered production combines Retina’s bold, physical and challenging choreography with performances from local artists and community members and music from Aranis.

Dance4 presents Episodes 2012 on Saturday, January 28, at 7.30pm — a showcase for school and community dance groups throughout Nottinghamshire.

The performance programme is part of Youth Dance England’s U.Dance framework, giving children and young people a chance to shine. Taking part in the production is the Newark-based Clout Youth Dance

Having already tackled religion and politics, comedian Richard Herring is back with a new show called What Is Love, Anyway?

The star of the award-winning podcast, As It Occurs To Me and Radio 4’s Richard Herring’s Objective, seeks to define and destroy love before love destroys him. The performance takes place on Sunday, January 29, at 7.30pm.

Acoustic guitarist Saint Raymond returns to the Playhouse playroom on Saturday, February 4, to perform a fine selection of original and cover songs.

In October he gave a successful performance at the Live and Local Showcase.

The indie singer/songwriter loves writing new material, the latest of which includes Bonfires and She Said No.
