Desperately seeking Sandy
Sunday 3rd February, 2013 - Scout Hall, Queen Street, Balderton
By Dawn Bond
One final cast member is being sought for Newark Amateur Operatic Society’s forthcoming show of Annie.
Sandy, the beloved and faithful canine friend of Annie, has yet to be found. The dog needs to be sandy or light coloured and ideally should be no larger than a cockapoo or labradoodle.
It needs to respond to some simple commands such as recall and sit.
The dog needs to be good with children and not be frightened of noise as there will be an orchestra and lots of sounds on and off stage.
Owners need their own pet insurance with third party liability.
Director David Taylor said: “This cast member is extremely important to the show as it is the one part of Annie’s life that is stable.
“I am sure that out there is a dog who will steal the hearts of not only Annie but the audience as a whole.”
The dog and owner need to be available for rehearsals for the last two weeks in February and all of March including each show at the Palace Theatre, Newark, from March 19 to 23, as well as technical and dress rehearsals.
Auditions are at the Scout Hall, Queen Street, Balderton, on Sunday, February 3, from 10am-1pm when Annie and the orphans are rehearsing.
Anyone who thinks they may have a suitable dog should contact David on 07971 285810.
