Fitting tribute to Old Big ’Ead
The Day I Met Brian Clough...And Other Tributes, compiled by Marcus Alton, recalls his memory of meeting him, his family, friends and fans.

Marcus, a former reporter at the Newark Advertiser, begins by describing his first interview with Cloughie, when he was working for the BBC in London.

He received a call from a colleague informing him that the great man was doing a book signing and went to meet him for the first time.

The book contains anecdotes from Brian’s widow, Barbara, and their daughter, Elizabeth, who provide a rare insight into the personal memories of Old Big ‘Ead.

There are other memories from journalists and former players as well as fans and friends who share their thoughts.

Marcus compiled the book by gathering tributes from a website he has run for more than ten years.

Royalties will go the Brian Clough Memorial Fund, which gives money to good causes that he supported.

The 191-page book contains many personal black and white photographs and is informative and easy to read. It is available through DB Publishing, priced £9.99.

This is a fitting tribute to the best England football manager we never had — PAS.
