Gathering storm
Saturday 17th July, 2010 - Newstead Abbey
One of the UK’s acclaimed touring theatre companies will present Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

The Lord Chamberlain’s Men will perform the Bard’s magical play at Lincoln Castle on Saturday (July 17) at 6.30pm and at Newstead Abbey on Sunday (July 18) at 7.30pm.

King Alonso of Naples, his son Ferdinand and their entourage encounter a violent storm and are washed ashore on a strange island inhabited by the magician Prospero, his beautiful daughter Miranda, a sprite called Ariel and the half-human Caliban.

Miranda has never set eyes on any human other than her father and is immediately struck with the beauty of Ferdinand.

The show is suitable for anyone aged five and over. Those watching the play should take low-back seating or rugs to sit on.
