Magical spectacular with glitz and glamour
Cinderella
The Grumbleweeds (Robert Day)
A fantastic horse-drawn flying carriage takes Cinderella to the ball in this year’s Nottingham Theatre Royal pantomime.

That alone makes the show a must-see Christmas treat, but there is plenty of added value with a great cast and glitz and glamour.

EastEnders star John Partridge, best known for playing hunky Christian Clarke, makes a great Prince Charming. Not only is he a real treat for the ladies but he can dance and sing really well too.

Three Degrees singer Sheila Ferguson is simply stunning as Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother. Her voice is divine and she fits the part perfectly. The stars of the show must surely be veteran comedians The Grumbleweeds who play The Brokers Men. Robin Colvill and Graham Walker, who first got together 50 years ago, showed they are masters of slapstick comedy, ad libs and corny jokes. They are hilarious and perfect for pantomime.

Top marks to the wardrobe department for the costumes worn by ugly sisters Martin Ramsdin and David Robbins, as each outfit becomes more outrageous.

Adam C. Booth is well cast as the love-struck Buttons and the beautiful Aimie Atkinson is ideal as Cinderella. This year’s Theatre Royal Babes come from the Marcia Jones School of Dance and are enchanting.

The entertaining family panto runs until January 13 – LAM.
