Minster concert closes season
Saturday 26th June, 2010 - Southwell Minster
Musicians with the Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra will end their season with a concert in Southwell Minster.
They will perform McNeff’s Image In Stone and Bruckner’s Symphony No 4 on Saturday, June 26, at 7.30pm.
The concert will raise money for Nottingham University Hospitals. The conductor is Mark Heron from Scotland — the music director of the Nottingham Philharmonic, University of Manchester Symphony, and Liverpool Mozart orchestras. As a member of the conducting faculty at the Royal Northern College of Music, Mark works regularly with the full range of the college’s orchestras and ensembles. As a guest conductor he made his debut with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in 2008, and appeared with them again last year. Other orchestras with whom he has worked include Pori Sinfonietta (Finland) St Petersburg Festival Orchestra, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Parnu Philharmonic (Estonia). The soloist is mezzo-soprano Carolina Krogius. Born in Finland, she began her singing studies at the Turku Conservatory where she graduated in 2006. She is a third year postgraduate student at the Royal Northern College Of Music in Manchester, studying with Susan Roper. Tickets are available from The Minster Shop, Southwell, on 01636 812933 or at the door.
