Piano play day
Tuesday 30th August, 2011 - Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham
Talented pianists in the county are being given a chance to play Nottingham Royal Concert Hall’s Steinway Model D piano.

The open piano day event on Tuesday, August 30, and Wednesday, August 31, allows the musicians to perform on an instrument played by some of the world’s most famous pianists — and to take advantage of the venue’s acoustics.

Neil Bennison, music programme manager of the Royal Concert Hall, said: “We are always keen to open up the concert hall’s music programme in imaginative ways.

“I love the idea of talented local pianists being able to step on to the big stage and perform on a great piano in a magnificent auditorium, even if it’s just to an audience of mum and dad.”

The event is sponsored by Phil Taylor Pianos of Blidworth who has looked after all the theatre and concert hall pianos for 20 years.

This event is open to experienced amateur and professional performers with a minimum grade seven.

A 30-minute session costs £40, an hour session £70, and a CD recording will cost £15.
