Rousing renditions of tunes
Sunday 15th July, 2012 - Newark Castle grounds
A good crowd at Newark Castle on Sunday afternoon was treated to enjoyable arrangements of some classic tunes.

Led by Ewan Robson, who does all the arrangements, Newark and Sherwood Concert Band were welcomed under the Victorian bandstand by Gill Dawn.

The musicians started their set with a march called Place In The Sun, followed by British Grenadiers and Dambusters.

They then gave rousing renditions of The Flutters Ball, Whiter Shade of Pale, Shepherd’s Song and Crown Imperial.

There was a lovely medley of show tunes featuring Another Op’ning Another Show, Let Me Entertain You, Send In The Clowns, Make ‘Em Laugh and That’s Entertainment.

After the interval the musicians returned with theme tunes from The Incredibles, James Bond and Pirates Of The Caribbean.

There was a lively version of Lord Of The Dance, a ragtime medley and plenty of pomp and circumstance for Strike Up The Band.

The concerts are held on Sundays from 2pm to 4pm, arranged by Newark Town Council. The next one will be given by the Ibstock Brick Brass Band on July 29 — PS.
