Solo project wows packed crowd
Former Dirty Pretty Things front-man and Libertine Carl Barat wowed the crowd at the Nottingham Rescue Rooms with a heady mix of old and new as he launched his new self-titled solo project.

Some critics say he lacks the likable roguish charm and charisma of his more esteemed former bandmate Pete Doherty.

But with new tracks like Run With The Boys and Je Regrette Je Regrette it’s clear the Basingstoke-born strummer is attempting to make a clean break from the raw indie sound of his Libertines past.

Both of these instantly likeable numbers were given a cautiously lukewarm reception from the crowd forcing Barat to intertwine his experimental new stuff with old classics. The crowd revelled in the rehashing of past gems like Bang Bang Your Dead and The Man Who Would Be King and went home happy — LK.
