Timely release for debut novel
With the General Election looming, a former engineer has had his first book — a political thriller — published at the age of 85.

Geoffrey Morgan, of Bennington Close, Long Bennington, has penned A Call To Arms.

Published by iUniverse, it tells the story of Luke Dryden, a member of the Special Air Services.

Over the years he becomes disillusioned by his country’s leaders who seem to have no regard for the safety and well-being of its citizens, especially its armed forces.

Twelve years of government by a gang of political revolutionists has reduced the UK to the status of a third world country.

There are plans for a military takeover of the government and Dryden, now a major, joins up to the cause.

Geoffrey said: “I was inspired to write the part- factual and part-fictional book because of the way the country has been going to the dogs lately. I have seen governments come and go, and at the moment the country seems to be going bankrupt.

“It has taken me just under two years to write and I wanted to get it published in time for the General Election, but had to go to an American publishing company to do so.”

Geoffrey ran his own business, Geoffrey Morgan Heating Engineers Ltd, from 1958 until his retirement in 1988.

He decided to write the book after the death of his wife, Ingrid, and is now planning a sequel.

A Call To Arms is available in W. H. Smith in Newark and Grantham. It is priced £14.80 in paperback and £18.50 in hardback. Paperbacks are also available from Geoffrey on 01400 281603.
