Two teenagers have been busy putting together a concert to raise money for charity.
Freddie Allen, 17, and Zak Briggs-Price, 18, will host the event in Carlton-on-Trent Church on Saturday, May 21, at 3pm in aid of Hope For Justice.
They have recruited singers and musicians they know to take part and help raise awareness of this little-known charity. Last year Freddie, of Mill Close, Sutton-on-Trent, and Zak, of Main Street, Sutton-on-Trent, organised a charity bike ride for Help For Heroes but wanted to do something different this year. Zak said: “I started going to church at Carlton-on-Trent a few years ago and last year saw a concert performed by Collingham Singers. “I thought it would be a good idea to put on our own music event and spoke to Judy Storer from the church about it. I also asked my friend, Freddie, who had been to music college in Nottingham to help.” Freddie said: “We decided to use as much local talent as possible for the concert and hope it will help to raise the profile of the Christian charity, a campaign that aims to stop human trafficking.” Youngsters taking part include singers Oscar Morrey, of Normanton-on-Trent, Nathan Foad, of Newark, Bethany Houghton, of Worksop, Abby Lightfoot, of East Markham and Leanne Fotheringham, of Worksop, a finalist in the Camp Rock singing competition in the UK. Others include saxophonist David Mafullul, of Retford, singer and guitarist Jasmine Beeby, of Sutton-on-Trent, and the Tuxford-based indie band, Intrigue. Once the concert is over, Freddie and Zak won’t be resting on their laurels, as they will take part in a 100-mile walk along the West Island Way on May 29 for Hope For Justice. Tickets for the concert, priced £5, are available from freddie1025@hot mail.com or at the door.
