Allow extra time for A46
7:29am Sun Jul 25, 2010

Motorists are advised to leave more time for journeys on the A46 through Farndon due to restrictions at the Lord Ted roundabout from today.
The north and southbound approaches to the roundabout will be reduced to one lane to provide a safe working area for construction of a pedestrian underpass between the old A46 and Farndon Road.

Ongoing

The work is part of the ongoing Newark to Widmerpool dualling scheme and will remain in place until spring.

A senior project manager for the Highways Agency, Mr Geoff Bethel, said: “We reduced the approaches at the A46 Farndon roundabout to one lane for two weeks last month and are pleased to report there were no delays or queues as a result.

“However, the restrictions are being reintroduced for a longer period of time, so we do advise road users to allow extra time for their journeys, plan ahead and to take extra care when approaching and driving through the roadworks.”

Colston Road, between the A46 near Cotgrave, and Kinoulton Road were closed on Monday until Wednesday, September 1, as part of the dualling. A clearly-signed diversion route is in place.

Road users are advised to plan their journeys and allow extra time and follow the clearly-signed diversion routes.

Construction of the £380m scheme to build a 17-mile dual carriageway, which is expected to improve safety and reduce congestion, is due to be completed in the summer of 2012.
