The new chairman of Bingham Neighbourhood Watch is keen to build on its success and get even more people involved.

Former chairman Mr Gordon Sanders, left, hands over the reins to Mr David Mason. (050112MW1-12)
Mr David Mason replaced Mr Gordon Sanders, who will remain an active member of the group as security co-ordinator.
Mr Mason said: “I am very fortunate to be inheriting a scheme that is so well-regarded nationally and that has made such a significant contribution to securing and maintaining low crime levels in Bingham.
“I am keen to maintain and build on the scheme’s strengths and am looking forward to working closely with our partners to expand coverage.”
Mr Mason said, as well as combating crime, the scheme played a vital role in helping to build community links.
He said it was important the group engaged young people, recognising the wealth of talent and energy that they could contribute.
Bingham Neighbourhood Watch was set up more than 20 years ago and was the first scheme in the Vale of Belvoir.
Through its website and newsletters, it helps spread messages about crime prevention advice, crime statistics and related issues.
Its 70 co-ordinators oversee around 86 roads in a membership that covers more than 1,850 households.
Mr Sanders said it had been a privilege to serve as chairman.
“I feel that together with all co-ordinators and committee we have continued to support our community with our award-winning scheme under my watch,” he said.
“I will assist where additional schemes are added to reach our main aim for 100% cover for all of Bingham.”
