Firecrews from Newark and a special environmental protection unit from Stockhill Fire Station, Nottingham, were called to a chemical spillage on Brunel Drive last night.
A 25 foot tank containing 15,000 litres of liquid nitrogen was reported to be leaking at around 10.10pm.
Nottinghamshire police put a road closure in place while the incident was dealt with.
The group that owned the tank, The BOC Group, advised on the incident.
