Clerk's pay-off made public

The former clerk to Newark Town Council, Mr Jim Hanrahan, received a pay-off of £47,000 when he left his job in February by mutual consent.
The amount was made up of £34,325 for loss of office and £12,675 for three months’ pay in lieu of notice.
The figures have been published in the council’s statement of accounts.
Regulations mean that information must be disclosed of staff whose salary exceeds £50,000. Mr Hanrahan’s salary was £50,701.
Mr Hanrahan, of Broadway Close, Lincoln, was appointed four years ago.
His successor is Mr Alan Mellor, of Chilwell, a former chief executive of Ashfield District Council, who started work at the start of the month.
The council leader, Mr Max Cope, said he did not want to comment on the matter.
