Cyclists urged to be seen
8:28am Mon Oct 29, 2012

Cyclists and pedestrians are being urged to wear fluorescent or bright clothing to make themselves more visible on Nottinghamshire’s roads now the clocks have gone back an hour.
The chairman of Nottinghamshire county council transport and highways committee, Mr Richard Jackson, said with the evenings drawing in and the clocks going back children would find themselves travelling to and from school in poor light.

He said: “Drivers have many things to concentrate on and unless children are very visible they can easily merge into the background.

“Whether you are a pedestrian or a road user, we can all play our part in helping to make sure Nottinghamshire’s roads are a safe place to be during these dark winter months.”
