Motorists faced delays after two separate multi-vehicle collisions on the A1.
An articulated lorry and an agricultural vehicle collided on the northbound carriageway of the A1 near Muskham at around 11.20am today.
The road was closed both north and southbound between North Muskham and the A46 junction at Newark to allow the vehicles to be recovered.
There were long delays for traffic diverted through Newark.
The lorry driver suffered serious leg injuries and was airlifted to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry.
The driver of the agricultural vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
In a separate incident, at around 7.20am this morning, a Volvo flatbed lorry, another lorry and a car collided on the soundbound carriageway between Markham Moor and Tuxford.
The driver of the Volvo lorry suffered multiple injuries and was airlifted to Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Part of the Southbound A1 was closed this morning after a collision between two lorries and a car.
The accident happened between Markham Moor and Tuxford. Part of the Northbound carriageway was also temporarily closed.
Heavy traffic caused by the accident means drivers on the A1 should expect delays
