Fire put out at derelict building

Firefighters tackled a blaze at a former Islamic school which has been derelict for a decade.
Crews from Newark and Bingham were called to the former Al-Jamia Al-Islamia Institute on Inholms Road, Flintham, at 3.24pm yesterday (Monday).

Firefighters used two hose reel jets to put out the fire at the two-storey building.

They also used breathing apparatus, a short extension ladder, one thermal imaging camera and small tools.
