Since the karaoke machine was donated to Southwell Court Care Home in November residents have been regularly honing their singing talents.
Activities co-ordinator Michelle Buchanan said songs popular with residents included Hey Big Spender by Shirley Bassey, Daydream Believer by The Monkees and You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and The Pacemakers, along with music hall classics.
She said: “It is quite a wide range of music. We didn’t use it a lot over Christmas because of other activities going on but when we did residents enjoyed it.”
Michelle Buchanan said they had discovered some hidden singing talent.
She said: “They are not only singing, but dancing as well and it’s a great group activity because they are cheering each other on.”
