The head of Toot Hill School, Bingham, has said it will continue to improve, despite being judged outstanding in a recent inspection.
The school was deemed outstanding in 18 of the 31 areas in its latest Ofsted report.
Mr John Tomasevic praised the dedication of staff and strong level of support from students and parents, but said it could still become stronger and secure even higher standards of education at all levels.
“Everyone is delighted with our designation as outstanding,” he said.
“It has been a long and at times challenging journey to transform Toot Hill School but the governors and I were always confident we would eventually succeed.”
The report said the school’s achievement and progress were excellent, classroom behaviour was very good, attendance was high, and that there was a remarkable sense of shared drive and purpose stemming from the head through to the rest of the school.
However, one of the reasons for the outstanding status was the fact Mr Tomasevic and the team realised outstanding did not mean perfect.
The report highlighted ageing areas of the site that were in constant need of repair to prevent accidents — an issue the school is well aware of as it continues to look for funding to improve its buildings.
Ofsted rated the school good for its sixth-form provision but recognised a major challenge was to secure new buildings for its post-16 education.
“Hopefully the Ofsted report will add weight to our claim for additional resources because the Government has pledged to support popular and successful schools,” said Mr Tomasevic.
