The multi-millionaire Nottingham Forest owner Nigel Doughty who was found collapsed in the gym at his home apparently died as a result of a natural event, an inquest was told today.
Mr Doughty , 54, who grew up in Newark was found on Saturday afternoon lifeless in the gym in an annexe to his home at Skillington, near Grantham.
Coroner's officer Mr Colin Allerston told the inquest at Lincoln Cathedral Centre that only an hour earlier Mr Doughty had appeared fit and well.
Mr Allerston said: "He informed family members he was going to a gym area in an annexe. He appeared fit and well and no concern for his welfare was raised.
"Just before 1.15 pm he was found by family members collapsed and lifeless in the gym.
"Emergency services were called and paramedics arrived. Despite concerted efforts of resuscitation Mr Doughty was confirmed dead at the scene. Police who attended reported no suspicious circumstances.
Mr Allerston said a post-mortem examination carried out at the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, failed to establish a definitive cause of death and further tests are to be carried out.
West Lincolnshire coroner Stuart Fisher adjourned the inquest to a later date.
