11:28am Fri Oct 26, 2012
A prize draw to win two weekend grandstand tickets to the Formula One British Grand Prix at Silverstone has been organised to help raise money for the appeal to buy a £6,000 wheelchair for teacher and DJ Mr Ian Lamb.
Mr Lamb has been left paralysed after an operation but is due to return to his Newark home next month from the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.
His friends want to buy him a wheelchair that will help him to get about independently.
The draw has been organised in conjunction with the Ian Lamb Benefit Night that will be held at the Cedric Ford Pavilion at Newark Showground this evening. All 450 tickets for the event have been sold.
The organisers have been given the Silverstone package for the weekend of June 28 to 30.
It includes two weekend grandstand tickets, parking, a premium view of the circuit and large television screens, VIP ticket wallet and a souvenir race programme.
The winners will also be taken on an exclusive tour of the Marussia F1 team garage, not normally open to the public.
Entry to the draw costs £20 subject to correctly answering the qualifying question — Who won the British Grand Prix in 2012?
Tickets are available at the benefit night or by contacting any of the organisers, Mr Dan Dolby on 07890 210483, Mr Lionel Garrad on 07740 760747, Mr Steven Pay on 07743 663619 and Mr Tim Whittaker on 07860 660555.
A football match for the appeal will be held this evening at Collingham Football Club on Station Road.
The event starts at 6pm with an under-nines game between RHP and Collingham. It will be followed by an under-30s v over-30s match at 7.30pm.
The evening has been organised by Newark Town and RHP footballer Daniel Purves.
