Hoval Ltd will take on 20 staff after climate change minister Mr Greg Barker launched the Renewable Heat Incentive at Hoval’s Lincoln works on Monday.
By providing long-term support, the scheme will help manufacturers of renewable-heat technologies, such as Hoval who make commercial biomass boilers.
Mr Barker said: “Over 95% of heat in the UK is currently produced by burning fossil fuel, producing around half of the UK’s carbon emissions — more than from generating electricity.
“The Renewable Heat Incentive is the first of its kind in the world.
“It will help the UK shift away from fossil fuels, supporting jobs and growth in an important green industry of the future.
“Hoval is in a prime position to take advantage of this exciting new market in renewable heat.”
The new jobs at Hoval will be in sales and production.
The first ten will start next month and will be based at the firm’s Northgate headquarters in Newark, although some of those will be external engineers fitting and servicing boilers nationwide.
The rest will be taken on as part of ongoing recruitment.
It will bring Hoval’s total workforce to 130, the majority of whom will be based at Newark.
Hoval has been designing and manufacturing boilers and associated equipment in Newark for more than 120 years.
The managing director, Mr Adrian Walker, said they intended to do so for many years to come.
“The Renewable Heat Incentive will provide an important boost to manufacturers of renewable heat technologies and will encourage property owners to specify biomass boilers for both new build projects and replacement heating systems,” he said.
The minister saw at first hand the manufacture of Hoval STU wood pellet boilers and met apprentices and members of the workforce at the production facility in Lincoln.
The Renewable Heat Incentive will provide a guaranteed cash-back scheme for wood fuelled boilers and other renewable heat systems, making long-term commercial investments viable.
