Members of the Lions Club and family members planted the trees at Wallenfels Play Area.

They were donated by the Woodland Trust. They include hawthorn, blackthorn, birch, hazel and rowan.

The planting also formed part of a Lions Club challenge to plant a million trees this year.

The saplings were planted in three areas identified by Bingham Town Council. Additional sites are being identified for 15 oak saplings including one grown from seed taken from a royal estate.

Lions Club president Mr John Ronan said: “Tree planting is a fantastic way to do something lasting in celebration of the jubilee, our own Lions family, and in recognition of Bill’s contribution to the community.”
