Hundreds of people are expected to attend Christmas services at churches throughout the Advertiser area.
Services include Christingle, carols, crib, communion and mass.

The Dean of Southwell, the Very Rev John Guille, said: “This is a very special festival for Christians worldwide and we are always pleased to welcome in those of faith or no faith to join in our celebrations.

“We hope that people will be able to take time to reflect on the real message of Christmas through a range of services.”

Southwell Minster will hold a carol service on Wednesday at 7pm.

On Christmas Eve a eucharist will be held at 9.45am, there will be a crib service at 2pm and choral evensong will take place at 3.30pm. A carol service will be held at 7pm and midnight eucharist starts at 11.15pm.

On Christmas Day holy communion will be at 8am, family communion will take place at 9.30am, festal choral matins will be held at 11.15am, at 12.30pm a communion service will be held in the Pilgrims’ Chapel and at 3.30pm there will be evening prayers with carols.

At Newark Parish Church there will be nine lessons and carols on Sunday at 6pm, a Christingle service on Christmas Eve at 6pm and mass at 11.45pm.

On Christmas Day there will be holy communion with carols at 8am and festive sung eucharist at 10.30am.

At Christ Church, Newark, morning worship and nativity will be held at 10am on Sunday.

On Christmas Eve there will be a Christingle service at 4pm and holy communion at 11pm. On Christmas Day there will be holy communion at 10am.

At All Saints’ Church, Coddington, a joint mass with St Leonard’s, Newark, will take place on Christmas Eve at 11.30pm.

At St Leonard’s Church, Newark, there will be a carol service on Sunday at 4pm, a crib service on Christmas Eve at 5pm and a joint service with All Saints’ Coddington, will take place at St Leonard’s on Christmas Day at 10am.

At Barnbygate Methodist Church, Newark, there will be a Christmas Day service at 9.30am.

At Charles Street Methodist Church, Newark, there will be candles and carols with a community nativity on Sunday and on Christmas Day there will be a nativity at 9.30am.

At North End Methodist Church, Newark, there will be a Christingle service with communion on Christmas Eve at 11.15pm. The Christmas Day service is at 10.30am.

At Hawtonville Methodist Church, Newark, there will be communion on Christmas Eve at 7.30pm and on Christmas Day the service is at 10.30am.

Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Newark, will hold a service of reconciliation on Sunday at 4.30pm.

On Christmas Eve there will be a vigil mass at 6pm and midnight mass will be preceded by carols at 11.40pm. On Christmas Day mass will begin at 10am.

A parish eucharist and nativity presentation will be held on Sunday at St Giles’ Church, Balderton, at 9.30am. On Christmas Eve there will be a Christingle service at 3pm and eucharist at 11.30pm.

At 8am on Christmas Day there will be a holy communion and at 10.30am there will be a family service with holy communion.

At Balderton Methodist Church on Christmas Eve there is a service at 9pm and on Christmas Day a family service at 11am.

At St Peter’s Church, Farndon, there is a eucharist on Sunday at 8.30am and lessons and carols at 6.15pm.

On Tuesday there is a eucharist at 10am, and on Christmas Eve there will be a Christingle service at 4pm and mass at 11.45pm. On Christmas Day there is a eucharist service at All Saints’ Church, Hawton, at 9.30am.

All Saints’ Church, Barnby-in-the-Willows, will hold a family communion on Christmas Day at 10am.

On Sunday holy communion will be at 9am at St Bartholomew’s Church, Langford, and on Christmas Day communion will be held at St Giles’ Church, Holme, at 9am.

A Christingle service will be held on Sunday at All Saints’ Church, Winthorpe, at 10.15am and a eucharist will be held at 7.30pm on Christmas Eve.

A crib service will be held at 3pm on Christmas Eve at All Saints’ Church, Collingham, and a eucharist at 10.15am on Christmas Day.

At St John The Baptist, Collingham, a eucharist will take place at 11.15pm on Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Eve at All Saints’ Sutton-on-Trent, there will be holy eucharist at 9.15am, followed by a crib service at 4pm and holy communion at 11.15pm.

A carol service will be held at St Helena’s Church, South Scarle, on Sunday at 5pm and a eucharist will be held at 8am on Christmas Day.

On Christmas Eve a eucharist will be held at 9.30pm at St Cecilia’s Church, Girton.

At St Andrew’s Church, Caunton, a crib service will take place on Christmas Eve at 4pm and holy communion is at 11.30pm.

A carol service will be held on Sunday at 6pm at St Laurence’s Church, Norwell, and at 10pm on Christmas Eve there will be a Christmas communion service.

On Christmas Day a eucharist will be held at Holy Rood Church, Ossington, at 10am.

Holy Trinity Church, Southwell, will hold a carol service on Sunday at 6pm. On Christmas Eve a nativity service will be held at 4pm and communion will begin at 11.15pm.

On Christmas Day holy communion will take place at 8.30am and all-age worship will be held at 10.30am.

A carol service will be held at 4.30pm on Sunday at Southwell Methodist Church. On Christmas Eve holy communion will begin at 11.15pm and on Christmas Day all-age worship will take place at 10.45am.

On Sunday Southwell Baptist Church will hold all-age Christmas worship at 10.30am and a carol service at 4pm. On Christmas Day a family praise service will be at 10.30am.

Our Lady of Victories’ Roman Catholic Church, Southwell, will hold midnight mass on Christmas Eve at 11.40pm and Christmas Day mass will be held at 9.30am.

Riverside Christian Fellowship will hold a Christmas service on Sunday at the Minster School, Southwell, at 10.15am.

On Christmas Day a service will be held at 10.30am at Lowdham Village Hall and a week on Sunday, a morning service will be held at 10.15am at the village hall.

At St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Upton, mass will be held at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve and family eucharist at 9am on Christmas Day.

At Bingham Parish Church there will be communion on Sunday at 8.15am, morning worship at 10am and carols at 4pm.

On Christmas Eve there will be a crib service at 4pm and eucharist at 11.30pm. There will be communion at 8.15am on Christmas Day, a Christingle service at 11am and communion at 12.15pm.

At Bingham Methodist Church there will be a children’s nativity service on Sunday at 10.30am and a carol service at 6pm. On Wednesday there will be a Christingle service at 6pm, and on Christmas Eve communion is in the parish church at 11.30pm. On Christmas Day family worship is at 10am.

At St Giles’ Church, Ollerton, there will be a carol service tonight at 7pm. Mass will be on Christmas Eve at 11.30pm.

At St Matthew’s Church, Boughton, there will be a carol service at 6pm on Sunday and Holy communion will be at 8.30am on Christmas Day. At St Paulinus’ Church, Ollerton, there will be a Christingle service on Sunday at 10am. There will be a family service at 10am on Christmas Day.

At Ollerton Methodist Church there is a service of celebration on Christmas Day at 10.30am.

At Lifespring Church, Ollerton, a service will be held on Christmas Day at 10.30am.

At St Mary’s Church, Lowdham, there will be a crib service at 4pm and communion at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve. There will be an all-age service at 10.30am on Christmas Day.

At St Denis’ Church, Morton, there will be a family eucharist at 10.30am on Christmas Day.

Holy Trinity Church, Rolleston, will hold a carol service at 6pm on Christmas Eve and a family eucharist at 9am on Christmas Day.

A candlelit carol service will be held at All Saints’ Church, Beckingham, on Sunday at 5pm.

On Christmas Eve a eucharist will be held at St Swithun’s Church, Leadenham, at 11.15pm.

On Christmas Day a holy communion and carol service with be held at St Chad’s Church, Welbourn, at 9.15am and a family service and chocolate nativity will be held at St Helen’s Church, Brant Broughton, at 10.30am.

On Sunday, at St Martin’s Church, Stubton, communion will be at 9.30am and eucharist at 9.30am on Christmas Day.

At All Saints’ Church, Fenton, carols will be at 6pm.

On Christmas Eve at St Peter’s Church, Claypole, there is a Christingle service at 3pm and communion at 7.30pm. At All Saints’ Church, Westborough, mass is at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day eucharist is at St James’ Church, Dry Doddington, at 11am.
