A bone marrow donor drive will be held at Nottingham Forest FC as part of the Join For Joel campaign.
Mrs Ann-Marie Spence, of The Meadows, Farndon, set up Join For Joel in memory of her son, Joel Picker Spence, who died from leukaemia in 2008, aged six.

The event on Friday has been organised through Join For Joel on behalf of the UK blood cancer charity, Anthony Nolan, by the family of Archie Andrews, 9, who became friends with Joel when he was being treated at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.

Mrs Spence said Archie, who needed a bone marrow donor, found his brother was a match, but the family decided to continue with the event in Joel’s memory.

She said the age limit for donors was changing from October 1, so 16-year-olds could join the register.

Anyone aged 16 to 30 who wishes to register as a potential donor can attend the session at the City Ground between 2pm and 7pm.
