The store has created 30 full and part-time jobs with staff recruited locally. The manager, Miss Sharon Waller, cut a ribbon to officially open it for business.
It is one of the company’s larger stores selling the full range of products.
Miss Waller said the premises were in an ideal location, on one level with parking on-site for customers and within easy walking distance of the town centre.
The company previously had a store on Stodman Street, Newark, but that closed about seven years ago when the lease expired.
“Newark has waited for an Iceland store to return for many years,” said Miss Waller.
The store is open seven days a week.
