I recently read yet again that the laws of this country are still being flouted by suppliers of halal-killed animal meat.

Last month it was reported in the Daily Express that it was being served to MPs in the House of Commons without their prior knowledge.

Both farmers and livestock transporters are governed by strict animal welfare rules and are policed in so doing.

So why is the Foods Standards Agency turning a blind eye to this most cruel of slaughtering methods, or is it yet another quango with no guts?
