Newark R&M, formed before the start of the season by the merger of the Newark and Ransome and Marles clubs, have finished their first campaign by winning the Newark Cricket Alliance Fourth Division title.
With rivals Claypole having their match against Calverton cancelled because of a waterlogged pitch, it left the way open for Newark R&M to seal the championship with a win at Southwell.
They duly obliged with a 158-run success which left the Top Ground side relegated to Division Five in the process.
Opener Rob Matchett scored 78 and Rob Taylor weighed in with 99 as Newark R&M made 252 for five from their 40 overs.
In Southwell’s reply, only Jack Grimley (40) reached double figures as they were bowled out for 94, with Taylor bowling tightly to take one for 20 from his five overs, and Kishan Kadvani taking five for 11 to clean up the lower order cheaply.
