Archers on target in league

The Newark Working Men’s Club Archers are once again dominating the Newark and District Double Board Darts League’s Premiership after a resounding victory over their nearest rivals.
The Archers, who have won the title for the last four seasons, were expecting a tough test in a match between the only two unbeaten sides, but are now well on course to retain their crown after an 8-1 thrashing of Bathley Outcasts put them 16 points clear at the top.
The Archers are also dominating the Singles League, with their players occupying the top three positions.
Paul Gallacher, who is looking for a fourth consecutive singles title, is in pole position after his eight-point haul against the Outcasts, while Mick Pitchford, who has suffered a solitary defeat all season, is two points behind in second spot after picking up seven points.
Nev Squires, who picked up six points despite his 3-0 loss to Brian Coughill in the final match, lies third just a further point adrift.
