Arrows hit target for first time in a year

The bottom sides in both the men’s and ladies’ sections of the Newark and District Double Board Darts League have finally recorded their first victories of the campaign.
The shock of the season so far came in the Men’s Division as the Castle and Falcon Arrows enjoyed their first win in more than a year and ended their run of 25 successive defeats with a 4-1 win over Newark Working Men’s Club Lads.

Kevin Walker set the Arrows on their way in a closely contested match with finishes in the opening two legs before Ryan Dennis secured the win with a 57 checkout in the next.

With the match secured, the bottom side’s scoring dipped, but missed opportunities by their opponents allowed Andy Norris to record a brilliant 120 finish to put his side 4-0 up against last season’s runners-up.

Mark Neal rescued a point for his side in the final leg but the night belonged to the Arrows.
