The Barnby Road Academy have come out on top of the netball scene once again in the Newark and District Primary Schools Sports Association competitions.
The Barnby Road team were runners-up to Winthorpe in the Autumn Tournament, but followed up their Spring Tournament victory by finishing as league champions.
The Newark Schools Sports Association chairman, Kevin Eveleigh, said: “The standard gets higher each year and our secondary schools are beginning to realise that Newark is producing netball players of county standard.
“Sally Thomas’s Newark Shooters are an incredibly successful set-up, and she is picking up more and more of our stars each year, trying to keep them in the sport into their teenage years.”
In the football competitions, there was more success for Barnby Road as they beat Coddington 8-1 in the final of the Primary Schools’ Cup at Hawtonville Junior School.
