Newark Town 5-1 AFC Hucknall The Blues progression to the third round of the League Cup was smoothly secured thanks to a comfortable victory in this swiftly rearranged fixture.
Switched from a visit to Hucknall to Station Road, after pitch issues at the visitors Watnall Road home, Town took full advantage of being on their own soil seeing off lowly Hucknall courtesy of goals from Ricky Brewer, Martin Wilson, Ian Hillier, Simon Ellison and Mark Ellison.

Manager Tony Joynes was delighted with the result, in particular the manner in which his side dispatched their rivals.

He said: “One thing I had talked to the lads about was starting the match strongly.

"We normally play better as the match goes on.

"I though 5-1 was a little harsh on Hucknall as they put in a really good performance. But I'm very pleased with the win."

Town’s next match is at Nottingham United at the Summit Centre in Kirkby-in-Ashfield next Saturday (2 pm).
