Bream dream for Simpkin on pond

The London Road Pond has been producing the goods once again, with Newark’s Roger Simpkin cashing in.
Roger Simpkin is pictured with his 8-6-0 bream landed from London Road Pond.
He had a catch of four bream on ledger and red maggot weighing 31-10-0, with the best being 8-6-0, and had seven good tench weighing 31lb.

Oliver Rouse also had a day to remember when he took a previously unlanded mirror carp of 31-0-0.

Newark Working Men’s Club fished on the Old Lake at the Duck Pond where the winner was Arthur Rigley, fishing on peg 17 for 38-8-0. Trev Ball was second with 22-14-0, and Tony Fox third with 22-0-0.

Railway Club were in action at Royston and the winner was Ian Young, fishing paste for 60-6-0. Chris Young fished with maggots for second spot with 53-14-0, and Pete Knott fished meat for third with 37-10-0.
