Brothers Peter and George O’Rourke took part in the Junior Amateur Boxing Association Championships at Romford, Essex.
The two young boxers, of Tolney Lane, Newark, eased into the second round.

Peter, 15, won unanimously against Brendon Smith, of Dagenham. Both fighters weighed in at 60kilos.

His younger brother, George, 12, boxed a much taller opponent, but was also successful against Mahmood Khan, cousin of boxing champion Amir Khan.

The O’Rourkes train alongside their cousin, the Newark professional, Eddie O’Rourke.

Peter has now had 31 fights, winning 28 of them, while George is unbeaten in his 16 bouts.

Their success has been recognised with invites to join training sessions with the national squad.

As a result they both hope to make the step up to box for England this year.

Both say that, although they will be boxing abroad representing their country, they will also be doing it for their home town and all those who have supported them.
