The latest Newark midweek open match took place with 24 anglers fishing at Rolleston and the low numbered pegs on the Weir Field.
Winner for the second consecutive time was Steve Clark who fished a groundbait feeder on peg 25 at Rolleston to take five bream and one barbel for a weight of 22-14-0.

Runner-up on peg 17 at Rolleston was Newark’s Pete Salt who also fished a feeder for a bream and five skimmers for a level 14-0-0.

Tony Marshall was third on Weir Field peg ten where he had five eels on lobworm and then lots of small roach on pole and hemp for a total of 13-4-0.

I happened to be walking my dog on the far bank towards the end of the match and spotted Marshall fishing. In 12 puts in with the pole at 13 metres he had 12 not very big roach. Awesome angling skills.
