Balderton's Sophie Robinson flew out to Poland on Friday with the Wales ladies’ hockey team, with revenge against Scotland on her mind.
Sophie Robinson of Balderton is in Poland hoping for more success with her adopted Wales.
The 22-year-old former Newark Hockey Club Otters and Beavers player is also destined for a season in Holland when her Polish trip ends, so she would be entitled to feeling a little confused.

But the midfield/striker is very clearly focused on her career, both off and on the field.

“I qualify for Wales through my dad’s mum and play for them with great pride, despite having played for England at under-15 and under-16 level,” she said.

“England never asked me back, and when I played for Nottingham Highfields, we happened to play against Swansea.

“One of our players was Welsh, and she knew that me and my twin sister Sianne had Welsh connections.

“She told the Swansea coach, who was also the Wales coach, about us and we got a trial from there.

“It was quite lucky for us that we played Swansea that day, really.”
