Fighters from Newark Martial Arts Kickboxing Club swept the board at this year’s Junior Full Contact Council Five Nations Championship.

Open to fighters from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England, it attracted national and international champions of all ages, from seven to under-19 level.
More than 150 competitors, including a strong Newark Martial Arts squad of 22, took part in the contest, which is widely regarded as the best in terms of junior full contact kick boxing.
Newark swept the board on the day, coming away with 22 medals.
With Chad Sugden not in action, Regis Sugden took centre stage, winning the -65kg 16-18 year old category.
Dean Sugden, said: “This is staggering. It has to be the best result ever for this club, especially as we entered some students who had not fought before.
“To come away with 22 medals when the competition was so great was just fantastic. Newark has always been a big supporter for our fighters, home and away.
“It was a fantastic honour to host the event, and a big boost for it to be on your door step so local people can come and support.
