Fourth place finish shows progress

The Newark Athletic Club youngsters continued to show their rich potential with another third place at the final Mini League meeting of the season.
Newark Athletic Club's Paul Smith travelled to Cardiff to compete in the British Masters Outdoor Championships where he clinched his first national title.
It capped a season of real progress. After several years of finishing in fifth place out of seven, this time the Club finished fourth overall.

But that conceals the third places achieved in the last two matches — and that, in fact, a second place finish was not far off in the last match.

It took place at the Harvey Hadden Stadium in Nottingham where 34 competitors helped the club to a second successive third place finish.

Seven events were won by five of Newark athletes, while the team was also boosted by fine debuts by under-15s Hannah Watson and Aaron Burns, under-13s Alex O’Dell and Lydia Sanders, and under-11 competitor Amy O’Dell.
