Paul Clark, who was better known on the Newark sporting scene as a Hawtonville footballer with an eye for goal, has set his sights on a golfing trip to Portugal.
Clark and his golfing partner Jo Garrigan won a place in the Douglas Bader Foundation qualifier at Market Rasen Golf Club on Monday after winning the Orchards Golf Club’s mixed greensome event with 41 stableford points.

It is the first year that the Brinkley club have entered the Bader Cup, the UK’s largest mixed greensome event, with proceeds going to provide amputees an opportunity to take part in many activities, including golf.

The winning pair at Market Rasen will go forward to the Algarve, Portugal, in November.

Second at the Orchards behind Clark and Garrigan were club captain Lynda Jordan and her husband Michael with 40 points, and Jack and Andree Bust were third with 39 points.
