Junior players from Newark Jaguars Wheelchair Basketball Club represented the East Midlands at the Lord Taverners National Junior Wheelchair Basketball Championships at Stoke Mandeville Stadium.
Several played for the East Midlands under-15 side that reached the final in their age group.
After winning two of four games in the group stage, and beating South East in the quarter-finals, they faced a Yorkshire side who had beaten them 14-2 in the group.
But with Jaguars’ Charlie Bonner defending valiantly, and Liam Hassell, and James Robinson attacking strongly, the underdogs won 25-10 to set up a final against West Midlands.
East Midlands put up a good fight, but were beaten 19-11.
Several Jaguars’ players also played for East Midlands under-19s side, but did not get beyond the group stage.
Jaguars’ players taking part were Luke Holland, Jack Stout, Michaele Goldring, Karl Hassell, Jake Robinson, Kyle Ross, Rees Ross, Lee Cupit, and Joe Wright.
