Newark Athletic Club members were in outstanding form at their county championships, coming back from the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire events with no fewer than 14 gold medals.

Eloise McQuaid of Newark AC was in outstanding form at the Notts County Championships at Derby.
Amy Fendley had a 19th consecutive win in the Notts county long jump (4.96m) while, in the Lincolnshire events, the Ripley twins, Charlotte and Molly, accounted for seven of the combined total of 41 medals.
Tom Brown thrashed the opposition in the 100m (13.00secs) and 200m (26.88secs) races in the Notts under-15 boys’ section at Derby, and Eloise McQuaid won the under-17 women’s long jump and was involved in a thrilling blanket finish in the 100m race.
McQuaid had to settle for the bronze medal, despite the first three across the line all finishing in 13.5secs, but there was no doubt in the long jump where she sailed to victory with a leap of 4.82m.
Emma Jessop won the under-17 800m in 2mins 28.10secs, while Lauren Rowberry won the discus with a throw of 19.89m, and the pair then joined up with McQuaid and Bethany Scotney to win the 4x100m relay.
