Adam Foster’s last-gasp goal gave Newark Flowserve a crucial 2-1 win over close rivals Grove FC as they tightened their grip on third place in the Premier Division.
On a difficult pitch in cold conditions, Flowserve dominated possession in the first-half although neither side created any serious chances in a hard-fought opening period.
The second-half saw Flowserve continue to dictate play, and they were finally rewarded when Matt Janaway put them ahead on the hour-mark.
Grove, level on points with Flowserve before the game, were hit by an injury to keeper Tom Loveless forcing veteran Tony Joynes to go in goal, but the change seemed to galvanise the visitors, who started to take control.
They equalised with 20 minutes left through James Stafford.
It looked enough to seal an important point, but with the last kick of the game, Foster lofted a high ball into the box that eluded everyone and found the back of the net. Referee Phil Joslin blew for full-time straight after the restart.
The win means Flowserve go three points ahead of fourth-placed Grove, with four games in hand.
