Orchards club harvesting more history

Lynda Jordan, who is the first lady club captain in the county, held her first Captain’s Day at the Orchards Golf Club at Brinkley on Saturday.

More than 50 members took part in a medalford competition played over 18 holes, and there was also a nine-hole stableford competition.

Ian Evans won the medalford with a card of 35-24-11 on countback over Scott Clinton (33-22-11) while third place went to Bill Hislop (32-20-12).

Steve Maynard won the nine-hole stableford with 22 points, four ahead of George Kirkham, and the nine-hole front medal was won by Alan Wright with a nett 31, one shot ahead of Pete Occleshaw.
