Newark's swimmers finished bottom of the pile after a tough outing at Bramcote in the second round of the Minor Gala League.
Newark collected just 116 points, 89 behind gala winners Worksop, and they had only three wins to show for their efforts.

Benjamin Palmer provided two of them as he got first touch in the boys’ 13-and-under 200m freestyle in a personal best time of 2mins 13.00secs, and then added a victory in the 50m breaststroke with another best of 36.67secs.

Palmer was finally beaten in the 50m butterfly. He had gone into the race looking for his 11th successive win in the event, but had to settle for second place despite recording a his fastest time yet of 33.91 secs.

Millie Bowes-Hall provided the club with their other victory when she came home first in the girls’ 13-and-under butterfly in 34.91secs, but the club showed their determination by recording 14 personal best times at the meeting.
