Quartet on form in finals

Four of Newark Athletic Club’s most promising junior athletes competed at the Midlands Athletics Championships in Birmingham for the first time, and all reached their respective finals.
First on the track, Charlotte Peach continued her steady improvement, sprinting to fifth place down the finishing straight to record a personal best time of 2mins 26.59secs in the under-15 girls’ 800m.

Her race was closely followed by the final of the under-17 women’s 100m which featured Eloise McQuaid in her first race since being injured at the English Schools Championships at the beginning of July.

With little training during that time, McQuaid struggled though her heats, but in the final her competitive edge showed as she stormed into the lead from the gun. She was still leading at 70m, but was edged into fifth place as her lack of recent training showed.
